QRTA has been offering the Psychosocial Support and Interactive Pedagogy professional development program since 2014 in Jordan to ensure that all children have an equal opportunity to receive a purposeful and meaningful education in a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment. &nbsp;Launched in 2019, with funding from Porticus and in collaboration with the Jordanian Ministry of Education (MoE), QRTA developed the Psychosocial Adaptation Skills in Crises and Emergency Program. Accredited by the MoE, this program targets school principals, teachers, supervisors and counselors with the aim of improving their understanding, knowledge, skills and practices to implement psychosocial support concepts in an impactful way.

Counselors Certifications

Helping students overcome crises and transition from a state of denial to stability and adaptation requires the collective efforts of teachers, counselors and principals. They must provide students appropriate support to deal with crises and emergencies effectively. This workshop aims to define the concept of a crisis, explain the stages individuals go through during a crisis, employ crisis counseling strategies, apply procedural steps for counseling intervention during crises, identify the principles of psychological first aid to handle emergencies and emphasize the importance of being well-versed in these principles when managing emergencies

  Psychological First Aid: From Denial to Stability

A person’s ability to successfully manage various situations is closely linked to their self-awareness and understanding of their needs.&nbsp; This self-awareness can only be achieved by being in tune with their emotions, handling them healthily and translating them into constructive behaviors and decisions. This allows them to regulate and direct their emotions towards better behavior, helping them develop themselves, gain greater control over their reactions, avoid impulsive actions and maintain rational thinking without being overwhelmed by emotions. Psychologists consider this a sign of intelligence.&nbsp; This workshop aims to explain the concept and importance of emotional intelligence, recognize its core competencies, develop the acquisition of emotional intelligence skills within the school environment and emphasize its value.

 Emotional Intelligence: Self-Awareness and Emotional Regulation

The role of the educational counselor has become pivotal in the learning and teaching process, addressing the behavioral and cognitive challenges students face. Counselors help students acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to tackle future challenges and succeed in the job market.&nbsp; This workshop aims to assist participating educators in understanding the concept of 21st-century skills. These include learning and creativity, communication and collaboration, digital literacy, critical thinking, flexible thinking and social media management during counseling.

 21st Century Skills: Future Requirements and Success Criteria 

Negative life events significantly contribute to anxiety, stress, feelings of threat and despair. Cognitive-behavioral intervention aims to address these disturbances through cognitive restructuring. Counselors work to adjust students’ thoughts, encouraging them to adopt more adaptive perspectives and behaviors that align with their current circumstances. This workshop explores cognitive-behavioral intervention, covering its concept, stages and techniques - including cognitive restructuring, thought recording, Socratic dialogue, testing ideas and homework assignments. It also examines the application of these methods in counseling, emphasizing their importance and practical implementation in counseling practice.

 Cognitive-Behavioral Interventions: Thinking and Change System

The World Health Organization affirms that mental well-being is an integral and inseparable part of an individual’s health. It contributes to the balance of emotions, thoughts, impressions and relationships, fostering the development of positive behavior patterns.&nbsp; This workshop seeks to raise participants’ awareness of holistic mental well-being and its relation to an individual’s adaptability to life changes. Participants will explore the concept and dimensions of mental well-being, the PERMA model of holistic well-being and strategies to achieve holistic mental well-being within educational settings. It also aims to discuss the levels of Maslow’s updated hierarchy of human needs and incorporate them into classroom activities to achieve holistic mental well-being in educational settings. Additionally, the PERMA model will be used to enhance students’ mental well-being in educational environments while developing holistic mental well-being skills through activities such as mindfulness, building positive relationships, finding life purpose and achieving goals in educational settings.

   Mental Well-Being: Methods of Attainment and Inclusion

The Habits of Mind model seeks to teach students how to think, guiding them to higher levels of effectiveness and instilling advanced mental habits that lead to peak performance. This model enhances students’ reflective thinking skills, enabling them to apply these skills in various learning and teaching situations.&nbsp; This workshop aims to introduce the concept of Habits of Mind, apply strategies to develop these habits in participants and their students during the learning and teaching process and emphasize the importance of developing Habits of Mind in everyday life.

Habits of Mind: Cultivating Renewed Minds and Sharp Thinking

This workshop aims to acquaint participants with essential student counseling services across diverse learning environments, whether in-person or remote. Effectively supporting students during remote learning requires crafting counseling content that adheres to established rules and guidelines, ensuring its professional delivery or execution during support sessions.&nbsp; This workshop also seeks to define the concept of remote psychological counseling, utilize essential supportive applications to deliver remote online counseling content effectively, apply interactive skills with online counseling materials, leverage effective presentation and delivery techniques when creating digital content and discuss the ethical considerations of remote psychological counseling.
