We have successfully completed the implementation of the "Teach like a Champion" program by building the capacity of 710 teachers in Jordanian public schools across the southern region. This initiative, conducted by the Queen Rania Teacher Academy in collaboration with the Arab Potash Company, aligns with both the Academy's vision and the company's mission to support education by equipping teachers with the skills to create safe and supportive learning environments for students. The training workshops covered 11 districts in the southern region of Jordan.
The workshops focused on two main modules of the program:
1. Check for Understanding: This module helps the teacher realize that the most crucial task of teaching is to distinguish between “I taught it” from “they learned it.” The techniques support teachers in ensuring that their students have acquired the learning and understand it. It assists them in pinpointing the moment their students` understanding stopped.
2. Ratio: This module focuses on three paths that teachers can take to increase ratio: questioning, writing, and discussion. A comprehensive explanation of the effective techniques that contribute to increasing ratios in each of these areas is provided. Those techniques enable teachers to encourage their students to do as much cognitive work as possible, such as writing, thinking, analyzing, and speaking effectively.
Teach like a Champion program deals with a series of applicable foundational and organizational techniques that support teachers. Those techniques support the teachers in establishing a learning environment that actively engages students and raises the level of academic and behavioral expectations in the classroom.
