Queen Rania Teacher Academy Hosts Vice President of Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation

Amman - The Queen Rania Teacher Academy (QRTA) hosted the Vice President of Accreditation at the Council for the Accreditation of  Educator Preparation (CAEP), Malina Monaco, after the academy was officially accredited by the council for its Teacher Education Professional Diploma.

During her trip to Jordan, Monaco visited the Accreditation and Quality Assurance Commission for Higher Education Institutions (AQACHEI) and met with its President, Thafer Assaraira, President Assistant for Quality Assurance Affairs, Zaid Albashairah, and Assistant Chairman for Accreditation, Saad Bani Mohammed.

Monaco also met with deans of the faculties of educational sciences and quality assurance officials from several Jordanian universities including The University of Jordan, Yarmouk University, Isra University, Amman Arab University, Middle East University, Mutah University, Tafila Technical University, University of Petra, Al-Ahliyya Amman University, and Zarqa University. The meeting highlighted the partnership between QRTA and Jordan’s higher education institutions, and provided information on accreditation standards, proceeses, and phases.

While in Jordan, Monaco gave QRTA’s academic team an introductory session on accreditation steps, standards, criteria, evaluation, and logistics, and expressed CAEP’s interest in working with QRTA to support local and regional institutions in their pursuit of accreditation and in learning more about the process.

QRTA’s Business Development Director, Nabila Bashir, who led the accreditation process at QRTA, stated that “Dr. Monaco’s visit plays an important role in establishing a strategic partnership between QRTA and CAEP. We got the chance to meet the deans of the faculties of educational sciences at Jordanian universities that are interested in obtaining the CAEP accreditation and discuss possible cooperation opportunities with CAEP in Jordan and the region.”

In November 2021, QRTA became Jordan’s first educational organization to be fully accredited by CAEP for seven years – the maximum accreditation period granted by the council. QRTA is also the third educational organization in the Middle East to obtain CAEP accreditation after the United Arab Emirates University and Zayed University, making Jordan the region’s second country to receive such recognition.

CAEP is the only educator preparation accrediting body that is nationally recognized by AQACHEI. The Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) is the largest accreditation council of its kind in the United States which  advances equity and excellence in educator preparation through evidence-based accreditation that assures quality and supports continuous improvement to strengthen P-12 student learning.

Established in 2009, QRTA is a non-profit organization committed to Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah’s vision of advancing the quality of education in Jordan, empowering educators with relevant skills, and offering innovative and evidence-based professional development programs informed by international best practices and the latest research in the field.

Since its inception, QRTA has created more than 90,000 professional development opportunities for teachers and educational leaders. It has also invested in attracting and building an experienced and knowledgeable academic cadre by leveraging its partnerships with reputable universities and educational institutions.
