What We Offer

 

QRTA offers a wide range of professional development programs that serve educators in Jordan and the region as a whole. Such programs were specifically designed and developed to address the educators’ needs in today’s world. Moreover, in order to continuously monitor the progress and remain up-to-date with the latest advancements in education, QRTA actively and continuously revises its training materials and resources, making sure that such resources are modified and updated to account for the world’s latest education strategies. To this end, QRTA provides the following short and long term programs.

 

 

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)

Short Term Programs

 

• Outreach & Development Programs

 

QRTA regularly offers an array of professional development courses for teachers (3-7days) that aim to enhance their skills and knowledge, and to create the opportunity of expanded outreach. Such courses help teachers engage in knowledge sharing discussions and activities to promote a way of addressing topics of importance to teachers and ways to tackle them.

 

• State of the Art Seminars

 

QRTA regularly hosts State-of-the-Art seminars. These seminars offer educators from both the public and private sectors the opportunity to learn and engage with scholars and experts from different academic disciplines, while offering them a platform to discuss concerns, question experts on their experiences and debate new theories and practices. These seminars provide up-to-date teaching and learning techniques and introduce educators to the innovative practices of their respective fields.

 

• Teach Like a Champion

 

By obtaining the publishing rights, as well as the adaptation, translation, re-contextualizing, and support materials of the book “Teach like a Champion” by Doug Lemov, QRTA has worked incessantly on developing a foundation training program based on the ideas of the book which provide an excellent basis for creating a classroom learning environment that helps educators improve their teaching techniques and skills dramatically.

 

• Educational Conferences

 

QRTA’s collaboration with the regional and international higher education community is emphasized through a series of conferences held annually that aim at promoting educational research. The events are structured around interactive meetings where researchers, developers, and teachers share retrospective experiences and prospective hopes and ambitions in solutions for common classroom issues, teacher policies, accreditation issues, teacher preparation…etc.

 

• International Baccalaureate (IB) Workshops

 

As an IB professional development provider, QRTA presents IB training workshops to IB coordinators, administrators, and teachers. The workshops are organized twice a year in Amman. Presented in both English and Arabic, a characteristic exclusive to QRTA, IB workshops boast a wide range of subjects which attract and concern IB coordinators, administrators, and teachers from Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.

 

• Consultancy services

 

To ensure that stringent program standards and quality measures are met, QRTA staff have been chosen and selected with utmost care and consideration. QRTA employs the services of 20 academic staff who are well-trained and exceptionally knowledgeable in their subject areas, and 16 operational staff in charge of logistics, finance, and support of the Academy’s work and daily activities.

QRTA’s academic team is available for consultancy opportunities in any of their content areas which include, but are not limited to, English writing, Mathematics, Science, Arabic, and Leadership.

 

Long Term Programs

 

• Subject-Specific Training Courses

 

QRTA offers subject-specific workshops and training programs in partial fulfillment of a continuum of a professional development programs that scaffold teachers’ knowledge and skills, and offer educators the chance to  learn new instructional strategies as well as improve content knowledge over a two-year period. These programs are based on hands-on learning, role-playing, and collaborative problem solving, the workshops mirror the learning experiences that teachers are encouraged to offer their students.

For each subject-area (Science, Mathematics, Arabic, English, and leadership training programs for school principals and supervisors) QRTA provides three intensive development workshops—typically two to four days in duration—over the course of one year; the programs also include onsite visits, monthly meetings, and monitoring and documentation to ensure maximum benefit. This follows QRTA’s School Networks (hyperlink to School Networks in programs) model.

 

• Environmental Education (EE) Program

 

The principle objectives of the EE Program corresponds to the vision and objectives of QRTA, with the ultimate goal being the provision of  high-quality professional development programs, which help develop teacher’s skills and knowledge while integrating Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) practices throughout a variety of academic disciplines.

The EE Program is designed to improve the quality of Environmental Education and raise awareness to the environmental concerns of Jordan. This follows QRTA’s Environmental Education (hyperlink to Environmental Education in programs) program model.

 

• Pre-Service Teacher Training Program and Certificate

 

The need to ensure high-quality pre-service training for those who intend to join the teaching profession has been identified by the Jordanian Ministry of Education as a key priority. In order to support this measure, the ministry set out to create a 6-month Pre-Service Teacher Training Program and Certificate (TPSTPC) which aims to prepare teachers who lack teaching qualifications to pursue a career in education. To that end, QRTA has been invited to contribute to the development of the general framework of professional development policies of the Ministry of Education, as well as providing the reference documents pertinent to the pre-service teacher training.

 

• Policy Deliberation & Research

 

As part of QRTA’s mission to apply its expertise in assessing educational strategies and circulating information about the best practices in teaching while promoting dialogue that enhances the quality of teaching and the status of teachers; QRTA utilizes methodical evidence-based techniques to research approaches of program delivery, collection of baseline information, result documentation, and comprehensive assessment transference, which help provide policy makers and education reform leaders, through a series of roundtable discussions and conferences, the ability to support the MoE in reviewing and developing educational policies, and enhancing the quality of pre-service and in-service training for teachers.
